In late 2016, Prism Defence was awarded a Federal Government Accelerating Commercialisation (AC) Grant in order to facilitate the launch of company’s ship-based software, HeliSAFE.  Access to expert advice, funding and committed focus on ensuring market delivery has allowed Prism Defence to significantly grow their internal capacity and capability.

Prism Defence Senior Engineer and General Manager, Dr James Forrest acknowledges the ongoing benefits of the AC Grant for the development of the HeliSAFE product and Prism Defence as a whole. “We have recruited effectively to bolster software development, user interface and project management expertise as well as engaging key staff with extensive defence market experience and expertise,” Dr Forrest said.

Commercialisation Adviser to Prism Defence, Mr Grant Steinberg believes the company is a good example of an established business, which possesses niche expertise but has historically found it challenging to prioritise and attribute sufficient resources to specialised products, such as HeliSAFE, that will bring the company significant opportunities.

“The advice, funding and committed focus of the program, ensure Prism Defence facilitate and accelerate the resources and activities required to establish effective product development capabilities in the business. This is allowing them to address a market opportunity within a current window of opportunity,” Mr Steinberg said.

“Most importantly, this has been achieved without negatively disrupting core activities, creating significant diversified future export revenue and employment growth potential for the company,” he said.

The HeliSAFE software is expected to formally launch in late May 2018 with some important announcements about the product to be announced shortly thereafter.
