Prism Defence conducted a successful flight trial to define Ship Helicopter Operating Limits (SHOL) for the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) in the vicinity of the Faroe Islands.

The trial involved flight testing of the MH-60R Seahawk fleet to operate to the Royal Danish Navy (RDN) Knud Rasmussen Class offshore patrol vessels (OPV) (Lieutenant Commander Kempf Amkær) from March 9 to March 27 2018 commencing with work-ups and then testing at different locations around the Faroe Islands to achieve the desired test conditions.

The objective of the trial was to develop safe operating limits to support day and night operations for the aircraft. A wide range of true wind conditions were encountered which enabled thorough exploration of the aircraft’s low speed envelope up to the calculated ship motion limitations. All objectives of the FOCFT were met throughout the course of the 18 day trial.
